Bracketing/Team Selection
How are brackets decided?
The level of play you request on your application is looked at first. Then you must be as detailed as you can with your record and use the notes section to fill in any additional info that may help us. We will seed teams based on your record (if available), so you may not end up in the level you requested. The selection committee's decision is final.
When will brackets be posted?
We try to post brackets 4-5 weeks before the event. You will be given a brief window to check your bracket before they are made final. Once we start work on schedules, no bracket changes will be made.

General
Can my child play for more than one team in this tournament?
No, a player can only play on ONE team for the tournament.
The application form does not look right on my screen (overlapping drop down boxes, long rows over the input fields, etc.) What is going on?
First, you should let the ENTIRE form load BEFORE you scroll. It is a big form.

In short, your computer does not have enough memory (RAM) available to render the form correctly. Here is the solution that will work in most cases:

1. Clear the cache (temporary files) in Internet Explorer (Usually Tools>Internet Options>Remove Temporary files
2. Shut down Internet Explorer
3. Restart the computer
4. Open JUST MS Internet Explorer.
5. Go to Web site, fill out form.

In most cases, this will solve the problem....
What are the 7v7 rules?
Offside WILL be called as per the new state rule
We WILL utilize build out line – When the goalkeeper has the ball, either during play or from a goal kick, the opposing team must move behind the build out line. Once the opposing team is behind the build out line, the goalkeeper can pass, throw, or roll the ball to a teammate. Punting the ball is NOT allowed. After the ball is put into play, the opposing team can then cross the build out line and play can resume as normal.
Restarts/Free-kicks - all free-kicks outside of the penalty area will be indirect. All restarts from inside the penalty area will conform to FIFA rules for penalty kicks, which will be marked 8 yards from the goal line.
On pass back to keeper, keeper may play ball at feet but NOT handle, as per FIFA rules.
We will utilize a three ref system for 7v7 games.

Registration
How do I register a guest player?
For players from outside of your club we need the guest player paperwork to be filled out at www.thetournamentcenter.com This is a state requirement. You will also need their current passcard. If they are from within your club they are considered "club passcarded players" and you do not need to complete this process. See rules for more details.

You will also need a copy of their official team roster, along with your own team roster. Then you can write their name onto your team roster. If they have the same number as any player on your team then you will need to use electrical/athletic tape to create a new # on their shirt and record this on the roster.
What will I need at registration?
Team registration will be held Friday, April 21st, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza, 5700 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546

Teams are required to have 2 copies of their stamped roster, pass card for each player, medical release forms, liability form, risk management cards for coaches and managers (proof that staff have been cleared to work with kids, background checks), guest player rosters and pass card and permission to travel for foreign teams and out of state teams. As well as Heads Up concussion certificates for coaches and parent/athlete concussion information sheet for each player attending tournament.

Please come prepared! All forms will be needed to register your teams, if anything is missing your team will not be able to play. Full information is found on your acceptance letter that can be downloaded from your team page. If you check the rules section on the homepage it will give you a breakdown of different governing bodies (USYSA, USClub etc).
When can I download my registration documents from online?
Official acceptances to the tournament will be granted after the March 10th deadline. Once your team is accepted you will need to confirm your participation online. At this point you will be given access to all the registration documents.
Will we be able to register our team at the fields on Saturday morning of the tournament?
NO, registration will ONLY be held at the Crowne Plaza between the hours of Noon-8:00pm on Friday 21st. This is due to the amount of teams that request this, it is just not possible. At registration you will be able to pick up your team tournament packets.
